Hi Jim,
How are you and Bill doing these days? Bart is now retired and I have a new partner, ZORRO. He is 2.5 yrs. old, all black male Malinois. Bill Castle imported the little devil from the Netherlands and I went to school at Castles in October.I seem to be into a little of everything these days. Secured a COP'S MORE 98 grant for our department to put data terminals in every officer's vehicle. It's a pain putting it all together, but will be well worth it.
Making plans to attend the National Workshop this year.
Take care and be safe!! Tell Bill I said hello.

Hi Officer Jim! I was super-impressed by your detailed web page! Very interesting and comprehensive. I am a history teacher in Austin, Texas, but I have had many friends who were police officers. I appreciated your stressing the importance of a well-rounded education. I notice also that you seem to be a country music fan. I am too. I still think Patsy Cline is the best voice that ever existed, and she was quite a gutsy gal, as well. I heard a funny story you might appreciate, since you are a K-9 officer. There was a group of cops who were taking classes for training in working with police dogs. The classes were Mondays through Fridays, with Saturdays and Sundays off. One Friday afternoon, one of the cops was tired, and decided to sneak off to catch a nap. The best place he could find was an empty dog cage (the tall built-in kennel kind). After class was finished for the day, the other cops found him asleep in the cage, and since he was a practical joker, decided it was payback time. They locked him in the cage, put out plenty of food and water, and quietly left. Imagine his surprise when he woke up later to find himself locked in the cage and everybody gone! (He was single and lived alone, so no one was waiting for him and worrying.) He was stuck there until they returned on Monday morning (with cameras!). Hope you enjoyed that story-- it has always amazed me how police officers, who are always so poised and serious on the job, have such good senses of humor and can pull the best practical jokes! Regarding your dog, does he live with you? I know that is the arrangement for many K-9's. When an officer has a family, can the dog mingle with the family, or does he have to interact mainly with the officer? Well, have a good Christmas and God bless you in your work!

The site contains many photos as well as a couple of my articles. Most pages have their own bluegrass selections. I am a booster of West Virginia and I welcome folks to be our guests. Apparently you are not a fan of Garth Brooks as Planet Garth is not in your links.I'm a former Police Officer who was disabled in the line of duty (car wreck) and my department fired me as a way to prevent me from getting my disability pension. I have sued and now my case is before the U.S. Supreme Court, Docket No. 97-9062. If you know of any Police organizations or groups (not the FOP, they have already sided with management) who would be willing to look at my case and maybe file an Amicus Curiare brief, please e-mail or call. If you know of any web sites that would post my case for all to know about, please let me know.
Thanks for your time and for all the work you do. Keep it up!!!

You have an excellent & exciting set of links. And a damn fine looking webpage, I might add. I especially like "The Daily Bikini". If only she came with an email address! Thank you.I have to agree with a previous correspondent that the holy "War on Drugs" is an aberration of the Bill of Rights.
It is very sad to realize that people can be wrongfully imprisoned for owning a certain type of vegetable which happens to be "politically incorrect". It is also sad to realize how many people in this country earn their living by breaking into people's homes in the middle of the night and seizing all their personal property and assets because they possessed an illegal substance. It is even sadder to realize how many thugs become rich by trafficking in illegal drugs. They pay no taxes. They play life's lottery. Some do time. Some get shot. Some don't. The real losers are individuals. Let's face it. The "War on Drugs" is in truth, a "War on Americans". Today, the Bill of Rights guarantees basic liberties to all Americans--except those suspected or convicted of possessing illegal drugs.
Sincerely,
Alan Fay

Hi,
I was just browsing and came across your site. Sari is beautiful. I am currently sharing my home and life with 3 German Shepherds. Racker is all German Working lines. I purchased him at 2 from a breeder in York Springs, PA. Racker is currently Training in SchutzhundJosie is 3 and was purchased from K9 officer Rich Pastucka outside of Harrisburg, Von Holzland Kennels. She is currently working on Sch. 1 training, her CD title and is also a certified therapy dog.
The newest and youngest addition is Anna. Her dad is a German Import Sch3 FH and mom is a Bolgarian import, whose mom & dad are working border patrol dogs. She has been introduced to the sounds of the pistol range and started tracking. All at the wonderful age of 11 weeks.
Me, well the kids do come first. My name is Sarah and I moved to NJ from Harrisburg 16 months ago. I love GSD's and I am a member of the Delaware Valley Police and Schutzhund club. Love country music and hate living in densely populated areas.
The site is great. Nice to have visited with you and Sari.

Paul W. Heimel pheimel@adelphia.net
Hello. I am writing to ask for your help in our efforts to increase awareness of the new book, "Eliot Ness: The Real Story," the first-ever biography of the famous crimefighter.Author Paul W. Heimel had an opportunity to sign a financially-rewarding contract with more than one of the major NYC publishing houses, if only he would agree to embellish and distort the activities of Eliot Ness and his "Untouchables." He refused to sacrifice his principles by sensationalizing the true life story of this remarkable crimefighter. A 23-year veteran of newspaper reporting and the author of three other non-fiction books, Heimel has assembled a book that is captivating, while still retaining its historical accuracy. Of particular note is Paul's report on Ness's inability to solve the case of the "Mad Butcher of Kingsbury Run," a Cleveland serial killer whose identity never was established.
At the tail end of his research, Paul was shocked to discover that the cremated remains of Eliot Ness were being stored in a Cleveland area garage, some 40 years after Ness died of a heart attack in 1957. This revelation, printed in the final chapter of "Eliot Ness: The Real Story," prompted the Cleveland Police Historical Society to obtain these ashes from a descendant. They were brought to Lake View Cemetery for a high-profile Memorial Service and dispersement, shared with the world by CNN, Reuters, People Magazine and other media heavy-hitters. Author Paul Heimel had the honor of being the featured speaker at this event.
Even so, it has been difficult for Knox Books to bring this title to the attention of potential audiences. Our company simply cannot match the marketing and promotional might of the aforementioned "New York Giants." Therefore, we are taking some rather unconventional steps to increase public awareness of "Eliot Ness: The Real Story" (ISBN No. 0-9655824-0-X).
I would welcome the opportunity to discuss this with you in more detail or, better yet, you could contact Paul directly through the Knox Books contact numbers. You may have seen Paul during his prominent role on the recent A & E Television Network "Biography" episode about Eliot Ness. He has also addressed many bookstore audiences, civic organizations, police and historical associations in Pennsylvania.
Please pardon this intrusion into your Emailbox. As I mentioned, we are forced to attempt some rather unusual contacts to make up for the relatively small staff and promotional budget that is simply a financial reality for Knox Books. Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Hello, Jim!My name is Karen Bennett and I am a dispatcher for the Whitpain Township Police Department in Blue Bell, PA (a suburb of Philadelphia).
I just wanted to say thank you for including the Phantasm link on your web page. I love that movie and only have a copy that I taped when it was broadcast on TV. It is no longer in print, but I am desperately trying to find a copy of it somewhere. Anyway to make a long story short, Reggie (who actually plays "Reggie" in the movie) has a CD and my husband ordered it for me for Christmas and catch this - it was autographed by Reggie Bannister and the entire band! It was number 570 out of 2500 signed copies. I was so excited to get this CD, and the music is pretty good. It's not country, but still it is good.
Thanks again for including Phantasm on your web page. Did you know that they are in the process of filming Phantasm IV right now?
I know you get a lot of e-mail, but if you find the time to write back, that would be great. Pet Sari for me and tell her "Apollo" (my german shepherd) says Hello!
Take Care.

Ron Babb magicm@indy.net
Dear Jim,Please let me try to set the record straight concerning some of the negative comments that some of your viewers have written to you concerning O.D."Doc" Carney. He is not a stark raving lunatic as some would think, although he does have an unusual way of expressing himself sometimes, but he always speaks the truth.
In case you haven't followed the news here in Muncie, IN, there has been several cases recently of Muncie policemen abusing people's constitutional rights. As I write this, there is an on going investigation by the Indiana State Police concerning an off duty officer supposedly beating (severely) a young man. There has always been controversy among the Police Dept. here. Not long ago, the treasurer of the local F.O.P. was charged with theft of F.O.P. funds. Not long ago, a Detective was arrested for shop-lifting. He is still on the force as a patrolman. He served no time, was not charged with a crime, but was to undergo counseling (at the Dept's Expense). Not long ago an officer was suspended for coming up positive for cocaine use, was reprimanded, suspended, and returned to the force. A former Captain, now "retired" was charged for assaulting a teenager for allegedly throwing a banana peel at his daughter. Same Captain was also investigated for an after hours scuffle at a local bar with a person who supposedly had threatened the Chief of Police with a gun, but no gun was found. No departmental charges were filed, although a court date is coming up soon because the victim has sued the Captain and others.
Do you get the idea? I don't know how squeaky clean you or your department is, but I do believe that some of your readers should know some of these facts before they pass judgment on someone like "Doc". Things are not always as they appear to be, and although Police Officers are supposed to be above things like this, it does happen. Probably more than you know. Just look at the Indianapolis Police Dept. A week ago, a seven year officer was arrested, as well as his drug dealing accomplice, for murder, attempted murder, and robbery of a drug dealer. This was not the first time that they had tried to rip off dealers. It has been going on for three years.
I have the utmost respect for most Police officers, but as Doc has written, they do tend to over-step their bounds sometimes, but they are only human. They are entitled to mistakes, as are we.
Thank you,
magicm@indy.net
Page owner's note: Apparently Mr. Babb is seeing police officers in the same light as O.D. "Doc" Carney does in his message dated July 15, 1997, below on this page. However, I feel that Mr. Babb is "...painting you with such a broad brush..." as the "Doc" did so well in his message. There may be an officer here or there that crosses the line, but that does not mean all police officers are criminals. As you say in your last paragraph, "...but they are only human. They are entitled to mistakes, as are we." Enough said.

Congrat's on your creation! My name is Ed Harry, I am a computer consultant from Saegertown, PA, approx. 90 miles due north of you, near Meadville, PA. I normally don't take the time to communicate with people that I don't know, however, if I could maintain your interests, I will continue.
As stated, I am a computer consultant, I work extensively in web design and support. In addition, I offer computer support to 90 % of the local PD's in the county.
One of my closest friends in Randy Detzel, CPL with the Vernon Township PD. He is also a K-9 handler and his partner is SCHAFFER.
I took an interest in the support of our local PD's after the death of my uncle, Richard Burchick, a patrolman who died on the streets of Erie, PA. With that being the case, and my father-in-law being a retired PSP, I have supported the local PD's as best I can.
I also returned from Florida, to the cold state of PA due to the pending death of my mother from Cancer. She died 3 years ago, at the tender age of 53, followed by my father in just over a year.
I most likely would not have written to you, except for the final statement on your page.. "Dad, the flame still burns!" What an awsome tribute! I would like to offer you a link to my SAR page. Which will focus heavily on K-9 support. Not wanting to give info away, as much as offer the General Public the chance to see that the Police and esp. the K-9's on our streets should be welcomed without being fearful. In addition, I want to include some info on maintaining distance from a Marked K-9 vehicle with support reasons and the like...
My main page is www.edharry.com.
Cheers, and in closing, I would like to add that your mother, as well as your father must surely be proud of you and your accomplishments.
Best wishes,
Ed Harry

Hello, Ofc. Fitch!Great web page. One of the best that I have come across. I especially like the "cop cards" page. I haven't seen this type of collaboration on any other web page yet. I collect cop cards, so would it be possible to receive your department's cards? I know there are a lot, but it sure would be nice to have them.
My name is Karen Bennett and I work as a dispatcher for the Whitpain Township Police Department in Blue Bell, PA (a suburb of Philadelphia). Our department has these cop cards as well. I think they are a great idea.
Also, I must say you have quite an extensive list of links! It's great. I went into the link for the Phantasm homepage. I love that movie. I have been trying to get a copy of the original (first) movie, but it's out of print. If you have any info on how to obtain this movie, I would be forever grateful to you.

Hope you find the time to e-mail me back. You have a fine looking department, including yourself.

Jim:Greetings. Before I start, let me say that your website is pretty suave. Gave me some ideas for creating my Air Force Cop site.
I am a Police Officer with the 343rd Security Police Forces of the US Air Force presently stationed at the USAF Police Academy in Texas. I have started a pet project I have wanted to do for awhile. I am putting together a patch board. But, not just ANY board with a bunch of stapled patches on an old bulletin board. This one is going to be crafted, felted, glassed and sealed when finished. A class item. Each patch will housed above an engraved nameplate with the Chief's name and brief history of the department.
So far I have 21 foreign and 168 domestic police agencies participating with their patch. I'd like to have your department represented. I'd especially like a K9 patch because I'm working towards qualifying as a K9 handler. I have another year to go, but, I'll get there.
So, what do you think? Sound like something you'd be interested in? Let me know what you think. If it's a go, I'll give you the civilian address of my project partner.
Thanks.

Dear Mr. Fitch,
I found your web page on the world wide web. I am a senior in high school and from Pittsburgh, and I am very interested in finding information on how to become a K-9 police officer.
Where can I go to school / police academy to become a K-9 cop? Is there anywhere in the Pittsburgh area?
Can you pick your own dog to work with?
Does the dog have to be a certain breed?
How long does the training take?
After training will it take long to find a job?
How much is the basic salary for a K-9 cop?
Where does the dog go at night? Can it go home with you?
I am very interested in becoming a K-9 cop. I'd appreciate if you could help me with the information that could help me.
Thanks very much.

U.S. Air Force, Vance AFB, OK
Hi,
My name is Ty Meik. I am originally from Enola, Pa, it is located 5 minutes west of Harrisburg, Pa. I am currently a security policeman stationed at Vance AFB, Ok and I also work as a Reserve Sgt K-9 officer with a local department. I have approximately 18 months left in the military and I am really looking forward to coming back to Pa. As you mentioned in your web page it is cold but I cannot stay away from the beautiful country Pa has to offer. I was wondering if you could please answer a couple of questions for me? I was wondering what type of opportunities Pa has concerning police officer jobs. I realized before I came into the military that there was a lot of competition and it was tough. I had tried for several years to get onto various departments but to no avail. Do you think the experience that I have gotten will help me pursue a career with a department a little easier. I would really like to become a K-9 officer but I realize most departments require some years of service before someone can apply for those positions. As you know the time really goes quick and I need to try to get as much information as I can before I get out of the military. Also, I already have one certified narcotics detector dog and have a 5 month old pup that I will begin training in March of 98. I really enjoy working with the dogs, the rewards are undescribable. If there is any information that you can assist me with it will be greatly appreciated, especially with all your experience. Thanks in advance, I appreciate it.
Ty

The P.D., (as far as I know), doesn't need a warrant to search a car...and if they want to search a car, they probably have GOOD REASON! You should have respect and admiration for our police force and should reflect on your prior comments...

Doc Carney thedr@iquest.net
Dear James:Congratulations on having mastered the basics of html - you have a really neat page and have managed to utilize most of the latest net enhancements - for that I offer my congratulations.
However, I must point out that the subject matter of your page goes a long way toward perpetuating the myth that police are there to protect and serve - in my youth that was a fact - a fact that has since disappeared in the zeal of police harassment and illegal activities brought on by the "war on drugs."
Every time you search a car without a warrant, you violate the constitution - every time you utter those infamous words, "I smell marijuana in the car," you overstep the bounds laid down by the bill of rights - every time you participate in a "sobriety check," you violate the constitutional rights of everyone you stop - every time you use your dog, you do the same thing.
I would hope that, like my cousin, a captain on the Columbus, Ohio department, you would decline to participate in like activities - as is your constitutional right - though Mike is not very popular with his fellow officers, he is comfortable with his conscience - and is highly respected within the community, unlike most of his counterparts.
I also wonder if, like many departments, your shiny new patrol car and foreign-trained dog were purchased through the proceeds of illegally seized money.
My business (computer/software/network installations) often requires me to rise in the middle of the night and travel to remote locations to "fix" what's broken before the advent of the next business day. During the last six months, I've been stopped four times at "sobriety checkpoints," each of which was manned by members of several departments engaged in a "joint effort" to rid our highways of drunken drivers. In every case, all but one department was operating outside their jurisdictions - completely contrary to state and local law. And in every case, the officer insisted that he smelled marijuana in my car. Did they find any? No - I don't happen to smoke. Was I amused? Hell, no! I was terribly ###### - and remain so.
Until a year or so ago, I always contributed to police retirement funds, charity functions, etc. - I no longer do so, and will never help or support police agencies again until such time as they return to the rule of law. Meantime, I consider policemen to be the enemies of democracy, and will work assiduously to see that outlaw police departments are once again brought under control, and will continue to pursue legal remedies in the courtroom, suing, not the state, but the officer who abrogated my Constitutional rights - I cannot believe that he didn't know any better.
An honest man should always strive to do what's right - by supporting the war on drugs you not only place your life in unnecessary danger, you also contribute to the continuing alienation of the public - the time is coming, sooner than you realize, when policemen will universally be considered to be the enemy of the people! - much like what happened in Nazi Germany, Fascist Italy and Communist Russia. If you've been on the job as long as you say, you either realize this (in which case you are a wrong-doing ###-##-#-#####, or you are an an absolute idiot who doesn't know any better).
If I were you, I'd try to find another job, one which doesn't threaten the freedom of the people you're sworn to "protect and serve," or, better yet, I'd simply admit that my life is a total failure and blow my ####### brains out. If you do, I'll say a prayer for your soul, reminding the Lord that you simply didn't know any better.
Meantime, why don't you pull down your site - it does no one any good and perpetuates the "protect and serve" myth.
Here in Muncie, Indiana, we daily read of "dealers" being busted - one of those "dealers" was a 94 year old man, whose house was raided because an "informer" gave the wrong address. After being hospitalized for several days, recovering from the bruises and abrasions he suffered during the "no-knock" entry, the gentleman decided to sue - a suit he will undoubtedly win - and the taxpayers of the city will once again lay out thousands of dollars to pay for the stupid indiscretions of overly-hyped cops - MEANTIME - WE HAVE SEVEN UNSOLVED MURDERS - and the perpetrators are going free because the police are devoting their time to chasing down small time dealers. IT DOES NO GOOD!
As a gentleman, I apologize for painting you with such a broad brush, but the fact is that you MUST know of these abuses - and as a thinking individual, if you believe in the America that bred both of us, you must either shed your badge or continue to be painted with the shameful brush of totalitarian philosophy, which is, "might makes right."
Another point - as a journalist, I regularly follow the activities of the militias and patriot groups - these folks are just as thoroughly indoctrinated as you - but with conflicting philosophies - and, as a concerned American, I wonder who will win - since y'all have the guns, I'm assuming it will be the cops - but you won't win a complete victory - the population will not be pacified - we were all raised and steeped in the philosophy of freedom and sooner or later, even folks like me, who have chosen to fight back with our pens - non-violent folks, will be reduced to the choice of fighting or giving up our liberty - I'll use my pen, but unless you're truly stupid, you must realize that some will use guns, and explosives, and whatever else is necessary to return this country to the rule of law.
Hoping to make you think, but doubting you are able, I am,
Sincerely yours,
O.D. "Doc" Carney

This may sound a little crazy, but what would you think about K-9 officers using a civilian to assist in situations set up by the officer for training outside of the usual training area? It could be done in the officers shift in his patrol area and he wouldn't have to use a fellow officer to be the CHEWWEY! I'm thinking long tracks with a good bite at the end, bldg. searches, something he thinks his dog is weak in. Maybe the dog just needs to sink his teeth into a bad guy to relieve a little stress! This is how it could run, officer Doe has a situation he wants to work on, he gets permission from CO. He calls me, we set up the time & place. I do my bad guy role exactly the way officer Doe wants, everyone's happy. This is all just an idea, I have not checked into it yet. I don't even know if officers would be interested in working with a civilian decoy. All I know is I love working with my dogs. I started out doing decoy work for a breeder/trainer as a way to pay for a GSD puppy that I couldn't afford. It wasn't easy at first because I had a fear of dogs but I wanted that puppy real bad! Greatest thing I ever did. The puppy turned out to be a great multi-use dog, protection, tracking, search & rescue, agility and he even caught a real bad guy when I pulled over to help an off-duty sheriff one night! Well I'm going to let you go but if you would please give me your input from an officers point of view. Is this worth pursuing? Is there a need for this?Thank you for your time.

Hi Jim,I couldn't believe it when I came across your site. I found it while surfing in the Whowhere homepages containing references to pets. The reason I was so excited is I am from McCandless Twp. I am also divorced and I was offered a teaching job in Maryland last July. I am currently teaching in a rural school and have three large dogs (an Akita, a Rottweiler, & an Old English Sheepdog). I am involved in training for obedience, search and rescue, and in the future protection.
When I read your information and current place of employment, it was like a call from home. I have three sons who still live in the North Hills and sometimes I miss them terribly. I think your site is terrific and I plan to visit as many of your links as I can. By the way, I have also been a scuba diver and I appreciated your picture from the dive site. Also if you would like, I will put a link to your page and build another page strictly on K9 cops and German Shepherds. I am also PADI certified for scuba diving. Just by looking at your page we have a lot in common. I love scuba diving and country music, and the outdoors. Also tell me a little about Powwow. Right now I just finished up getting my private pilots license. Flying is very fun you should try it sometime, or maybe you already have... Well gotta go work on my web page good luck and hope to hear from you soon. Please check out my page at http://www.busprod.com/tj
I would greatly appreciate it if you would put a link up on my page and I would gladly put one on mine to yours. I will build a separate page just like I was talking about earlier. Well now I am just repeating myself so I will let you go.. Tell Sari Hi from a stranger..

Officer Fitch, first I would like to say hello. I'm looking for info. on law enforcement with K-9's in Pa. I am currently working for Potter County Sheriff's Dept. I work at the jail as a corrections officer, and assist the office with warrants. I also work with the Game Commission as a deputy. The sheriff raises Rotti's, I have a young Shepard, we probably will never totally agree on breeds(hahaha). I have worked some SAR work in the past, for body recovery and runaway child with my first dog. Before she was completely trained I had to pull her out of service, and then lost her to a brain lesion. Currently I am starting from scratch and would like to lean to police work, not limiting to SAR work. On a transport last week to Lebanon County Prison I got to see their K9. Nice looking animal !!! Interesting enough I got started with dogs in Hopewell Township, now I'm trying hard to continue in Potter Co. Another neat piece of info., my wife is from Sewickley Hills, her father runs with Ohio Township Fire Dept.If you could let me know what way I might pursue getting my shepard started for law enforcement, it would be a great help. Thank you much.
KEEP UP the GOOD WORK!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great web site! You are so fortunate to work with a canine companion. When I turned 21 in 1965 I was sworn in as a Hennepin County deputy sheriff but, after three years, changed to radio broadcasting as a career. Through those many years on-air there has been very little job security and I don't feel as if I've contributed much to society. You, on the other hand do contribute to the benefit of society on a daily basis and in the process get to work with a wonderful dog!
As a child I had a beautiful German Shepherd but my parents got rid of it because it bit the postman and my grandmother. I've loved that breed ever since having one as a companion in childhood. More recently I had a doberman pinscher, who passed away at age 10. He was my best friend and we traveled the country as I moved from radio job to radio job.
When I see how much crime there is, how afraid people are to walk about after dark (Minneapolis has had record numbers of murders in the last three years), I wish that I had stuck with law enforcement if only for the chance to make a difference in a few lives through example or intervention.
To me, you are indeed a very lucky man and law enforcement is fortunate to have men of your quality protecting the rest of us!
Best of luck to you and your partner!

I can't wait to tell a fellow officer that your partner has the same name as his wife!
I am trying to gather some "Un-Official" statistics on manpower numbers in public safety. I work in a City of 84,000 people, which rises to well over 100,000 during the day.
If you have the time would you mind telling me how many officers per 1000 people you have, and how many of them are in uniform on patrol.

Dear Officer Fitch,My name is Erik Hanks, and I live in Normal, Illinois. I am a freshman at Heartland Community College in Bloomington, Illinois, and I am majoring in Criminal Justice. After I receive a degree from there, I plan on attending Illinois State University with the same major. In my criminal justice class, part of the class is that we have to write a research paper. Since I have been around animals most all of my life, having horses, dogs, and such, I plan on becoming a K-9 officer in several years. I felt that writing a paper on the history, origin and other aspects of K-9 units would be beneficial to me. I am compiling papers, and info on this, and I was just wanting to ask you if you would have the time to send me some ideas on this area. Any help that you could give me would be greatly appreciated!
By the way, in the next month I am going to see Garth Brooks, Clay Walker, and Lorrie Morgan. Man....getting the tickets for Garth Brooks was sure a huge feat! Well...I had better get busy with my studies, and I thank you for the time and any information that you would be able to get to me.

Officer Fitch and Sari,I was "surfing the web" & found your homepage, it's really good. Besides wanting to get into law enforcement, I'm a HUGE country music fan. Born & raised on it. My all-time favorite singer is Waylon Jennings. My mother & I will see him & his wife in concert on April 4th. Who's your favorite singer(s)? Your concert list looks good. We saw Tanya Tucker & Terri Clark last year, both were great. As of this year we are hoping to see Terri Clark, Aaron Tippin & Wynnona at Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson, NJ. We get season passes for $65 and last year they had Clay Walker, Martini McBribe, Little Texas, Mark Chestnut, Willie Nelson, Neil McCoy, Aaron Tippin, Sammy Kershaw & Doug Stone.
Besides listening to country music, I like sports, fishing and animals, especially dogs, I have an 11 year old dog named Casey. Does Sari live with you? Has he been your only K-9 partner & how old is he? One more question - are the commands you give him in English? I'd like to know more about your police department, how you got into the K-9 unit, how you like it compared to other duties you've had and your law enforcement career in general, but I won't ask you all of that now.
There is one question I want to ask even though we're strangers. It's asking a lot & if it's not possible I totally understand. Would there be anyway that you could pickup a George Strait t-shirt for me to give my mom when you go to the concert? If you can I'll send you a check for the t-shirt and of course pay for your expense of having to ship it. We have hoped he would be around here but he hasn't been.
Take care & both of you be careful out there.
Thanks,
Ruth Cohen

This is really a good site. I've been a webmaster for a worldwide oil service company for about 2 years now, and I can truthfully say, At-A-Boy.I'm a former law enforcement officer. I've got about 8 years with 4 of it full time and 4 as a reserve. Presently, the only time I get to a PD is to help with their computer problems.
Spent time in DaNang, Viet Nam, from '69 thru '70 with Naval Aviation. Thought if I ever did go, I'd be on a carrier, but no, not me. Got myself stationed in-country. I was a plane capt. or flight engineer while over there and I was initiated with my first carrier landing in the co-pilots seat. Man, what a rush... That's some of the best fun to be had with your clothes on!
Well, don't want to yak too much so I'll finish this.
Would like to hear from you.

Nice homepage Jim. I've been with the Philadelphia Police K9 Unit for the past 16years. I'm on my third K9. All my dogs have been German Shepherds. Hi! My name is Paul Chatman and I am a Senior at Indiana State University in Terre Haute, IN. I am majoring in Criminology. For one of my classes I have to write a paper of my choice. I'm interested in writing about K-9 units, the history, current uses, etc. of dogs in law enforcement. While researching I came across your page. I was wondering if you would be interested in providing me with additional sources of information (i.e., books or journal articles) relating to the topic. By the way, I really like your links to the other web sites.
Thanks

Hi Jim,I was shootin' the breeze at Pow-Wow, and noticed "K-9 Cop".
I am a happy owner of a German Shepard named Alexis. It must be a great job to be able to have such a loyal partner. I really enjoyed your page and plan on coming back in the future. Neat to see a page with quite a lot of "Shepherd stuff." Keep things in line in Ross, one of my old college roommates lives nearby in Fairoaks, PA. If there's trouble, he's probably involved.
Again, great page!
P.S. Alexis sends Sari "nosetaps!"

Also trained with my black part GSD last year. Someone from Ross Twp. was there at the old place next to the bakery. That animal was pretty big even back then. Well, hope you have a safe and productive life with your k-9.

A really great web page, Sari must have contributed a lot to make it such a neat place!I didn't see Alison Krause listed in your favorite country performers list. She's one of my personal favorites. Guess it's her bluegrass influence. I'm an ex-bluegrass picker and still like to listen to it.
I've got a shepherd mix (Heidi) and really love German Shepherd dogs. A few years ago I attended a police k-9 contest that was held in Princeton, OH, a northern suburb of Cincinnati. There were k-9 officers and dogs from Ohio, Michigan, and W. Virginia there, all going through their paces. It was GREAT! I saw my first longhaired German Shepherd there! I didn't know there was such a critter before that. There were a few rottweilers and malinois there, but shepherds were by far the breed of choice. (No surprise there, after all, they ARE the most beautiful breed in the world, right?)
Take care and give Sari a pat for me. Tell him he did a really great job on the web page!!!

Hi-ya James:Saw ya' on the police pages, and thought I'd say howdy.
I'm Chief of Police at in a suburb of Wichita, Kansas. Being this close to a larger city though, we seem to have inherited their "big city" crime. Lots of gang activity, drugs, drive-bys, officer shootings, etc.
Prior to my appointment here in July of '95, I held a position as tact-team cmndr. to a five county Special Response Team. I'm an ASP baton instructor, nerve center control and kubaton instructor, and am accredited by our state training academy as a SWAT instructor. I like to travel, instructing tactical applications for the everyday street officer.
In regards to your K-9 interests, the undersheriff at my previous job was Tom Brenneman, an internationally know trainer. His "dog of choice" is the Belgium Mallenois, (sp?), and he has trained pups for L.A. county sheriff, Dallas P.D., etc., and also trains dogs used for movies.
Drop me a line sometime, and we'll pass on some more info. Talk at- cha soon.
Sincerely:
Greg King
